Before surgery:  Make sure blood pressure is controlled.  Medications that cause bleeding or easy bruisability like anticoagulants should be stopped 1-2 weeks prior to surgery.

Markings:  the excess skin right under the eyebrow hairline is marked and assessed

Procedure Time: 1–2 hours

Anesthesia: preferably done under Local Anesthesia, so the patient is awake but numb to be able to assess eyelid opening

Incision:  the incision is placed along the lower border of the eyebrows.  The thick sub-brow skin is removed and suturing is done.  This technique allows for exposure of the natural eyelid crease.

• Post-op Course: Oral antibiotics and pain reliever are taken for a week.  Expect swelling for 1-2 weeks over the eye area.  Downtime for Subbrow Lift is less compared to an upper blepharoplasty procedure. Frequent ice compress is advised to help with the swelling.  

• Suture Removal: sutures are removed after 6-7 days
   
• Downtime: 7-14 days for swelling; most return to work in a week

• Scarring:  expect the scars to be visible in 1-6 months and gradually fades over time.  Use of silicone scar gel and sunblock are advised.  The scars may be hidden with eyebrow makeup once the incision is healed.
   
• Results: Immediate improvement is seen after the swelling subsides.
