An eyebrow lift (also called a brow lift) is a cosmetic procedure that raises your eyebrows to a more youthful position. It reduces the “droopy” or tired look around the eyes. The result is a fresher, more alert appearance without changing your basic facial features.
Eyebrow Lift Surgery Techniques:
1. Direct Eyebrow Lift
A direct brow lift is a procedure where a small strip of skin is removed just above the eyebrows to lift them into a higher position.
Advantage: It is precise and effective, especially for correcting significant drooping or asymmetry.
Disadvantage: The trade-off is a visible scar along the brow line, though it usually fades over time.
Best for: those with uneven eyebrow level, and those with thick brows or eyebrow tattoo to hide the scar
Not suitable for: when the whole forehead is sagging, a forehead lift will be a better choice
2. Endoscopic Eyebrow Lift (using Endotine)
An endoscopic eyebrow lift using Endotine is a minimally invasive brow lift performed through small incisions hidden within the hairline, where a tiny camera helps guide the procedure. A bioabsorbable Endotine device is placed beneath the skin and uses small tines to gently grip the lifted tissue and anchor it to the underlying bone, holding the brow in a higher position.
Advantage: minimal visible scarring
Disadvantage: the eyebrows cannot be precisely shaped to a desired contour. Cost is much higher due to cost of Endotine and usually done under IV sedation.
3. Temporal lift or Lateral Brow Lift (Foxeye Lift)
A temporal eyebrow lift is a minimally invasive brow lift that targets the outer brow using small incisions hidden within the hairline at the temples (or along the hairline to avoid pulling the hairline backwards). Through these incisions, the surgeon lifts and repositions the outer brow tissues, then secures them to maintain a subtle, natural-looking elevation.
Advantage: also lift the lateral forehead, reducing wrinkles
Disadvantage: the shape of the eyebrow and eyes may look unnatural due to the ponytail lift effect. For natural looking eyebrow shape, a forehead lift may be better.
Q: Will my brows look too arched or surprised?
A: You may look surprised, with the eyebrows too arched usually for a few weeks post-op due to the swelling. Once the swelling subsides and gravity sets in, the eyebrows will look more natural.
Q: Where are the scars placed?
A: Incisions are hidden in the hairline of the eyebrow or temple, making scars camouflaged. The scar is visible for 1-3 months and will gradually fade over 6-12 months.
Q: Can it be combined with other procedures?
A: Yes. A brow lift is commonly done with upper blepharoplasty or a facelift for comprehensive facial rejuvenation.
