A forehead lift, also called a full brow lift or upper facelift, is a surgical procedure that smooths the forehead, lifts sagging brows, and opens up the eyes for a more youthful, rested appearance. Before surgery:  pre-operative laboratories and medical clearance is done to ensure the patient is healthy 

Anesthesia: local anesthesia or under IV sedation 

Incision:  incision is done along  the hairline to access the entire forehead and lift the underlying tissues to reposition the eyebrows.  The excess skin is removed and closed with minimal tension, resulting in smoother forehead lines and a natural-looking brow lift.

Procedure Time: 2 hours  

• Post-op Course: Oral antibiotics and pain reliever are taken for a week.  Expect swelling for 1-2 weeks.  The swelling usually settles on the eye area and cheeks.  Frequent ice compress is advised to help with the swelling.  

• Suture Removal: sutures are removed after 10-14 days
   
• Downtime: 7-14 days for swelling; most return to work in a week

• Scarring:  scars are usually visible for 1-3 months and will gradually fade over 6-12 months
   
• Results: Expect to look like the forehead is really lifted with the eyebrows really high immediately post-op and during the swollen period.  The eyebrows will eventually settle to a more natural look after a few months.
