• Post-op Course: Oral antibiotics and pain reliever are taken for a week.  Expect swelling for 1-2 weeks over the nipples.  Frequent ice compress is advised to help with the swelling.  

• Suture Removal: sutures are removed after 7-10 days
   
• Downtime: 7-14 days for swelling; most can return to work after procedure

• Scarring:  scars are usually visible for 1-3 months and will gradually fade over 6-12 months
   
• Results: the nipples look overly projected right after the surgery, which will gradually settle or decrease in height over 6-12 months.

Q: Will I lose nipple sensation?
A: Most patients retain sensation, although temporary changes may occur during healing.

Q: Can I still breastfeed after surgery?
A: Breastfeeding may still be possible depending on the technique used, but this varies per patient and the severity of nipple inversion.  For severe cases of nipple retraction,  the milk ducts need to be severed to achieve a permanent result.

Q: Is the result permanent?
A: Results are generally long-lasting, though recurrence is possible if the milk ducts are just stretched out and not ligated.
